The Standardized Patient Simulation Laboratory (SPSL).

 

   
Dr. Vickie Hughes RN, DNS
Dr. Hughes received her Doctorate of Nursing Science from Louisiana State University.  She is a clinical specialist in Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nursing.  She has served as an adjunct nursing instructor at NWFSC since Fall 2006.


An anxious patient
Dr. Hughes demonstrates an incorrect approach then the students are given their chance to do it correctly.
Dr. Hughes starts this exercise by demonstrating how NOT to interact with the patient.

An upset patient
In another exercise a patient is becoming upset and exhibiting signs of possible self destructive behavior.

Dr. Hughes demonstrates several incorrect responses to a patient's concerns.

Dr. Hughes demonstrates a missed opportunity to help a co-worker with a potential problem.
